Coaching: One Person at a Time

Which of your people would grow fastest with someone in their corner? Group training reaches everyone shallowly. Coaching changes the few who set the direction for the rest.

Training

Transferring a skill somebody does not have yet. Structured, has a syllabus, and you can tell afterwards whether it worked because they can now do the thing.

Helping somebody use judgement they already have. No syllabus, driven by what is in front of them this month, and measured by the decisions they make differently.

Who we work with

Founders

Usually the person with nobody to think out loud with. Most sessions are less about advice than about having decisions properly challenged.

First-time managers

Promoted for being good at the work, now responsible for people, and given no preparation for the second job.

Marketing leads

Capable operators who need to move from executing campaigns to setting direction and defending a budget.

Technical leads

Engineers stepping into decisions about architecture, vendors and hiring rather than only about code.

Fortnightly, 90 minutes

Frequent enough for momentum, spaced enough that something happens between sessions.

A three-month minimum

Below that nothing measurable changes, and we would rather decline than take the fee.

Confidential

What is said in a coaching session does not go back to the employer. Without that, the sessions are theatre.
